Blakeman pitches income-tax exemption for earners under $50K single / $100K joint (about $4,000 a year, paid for by redirecting immigrant and refugee aid); Hochul cites no income or corporate tax increases and her rebates
State of Politics (Jack Arpey, Sept 29) compares the tax pitches. Blakeman says he would fund what he calls the largest income tax cut in state history by redirecting spending. Hochul says she has not raised income or corporate taxes and points to a $1,000 rebate for families with children under 4, $1B in energy rebates, a middle-class rebate, a property tax rebate and the NYC luxury second-home tax. Hochul campaign-announced figures: $8.5M raised in September, $18.5M cash on hand; state Democratic Party $15M.
