The release ties it to the 2026 State of the State directive for three-year agency action plans on housing instability and financial insecurity as suicide risk factors, and to the AI-companion law and Safe by Design Act. Figures cited: 1,701 suicide deaths in NY in 2024 (CDC: second-lowest state rate after NJ), 52,000+ 988 calls in July, $60M+ for 988, roughly $2B invested in the mental health system overall.
