Steuben County legislature will vote in September on letting Sheriff Allard join the 15 sheriffs suing over the 287(g) ban

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard wants to join Bourgault v. Hochul (No. 1:26-cv-01637, NDNY), the FAIR-backed suit by 15 sheriffs challenging the Local Cops, Local Crimes Act; the county legislature will vote at its September meeting on authorizing him. Steuben is one of the four counties AG James subpoenaed Aug 19 over 287(g) agreements. Hochul and James jointly called the suit "a frivolous waste of taxpayer dollars."
