Hochul formally appeals Trump administration denial of disaster aid for February blizzard
On July 31, Hochul sent President Trump a letter formally appealing FEMA's July 2 denial of a Major Disaster Declaration for the Feb 22-23 blizzard, calling the decision "arbitrary and without explanation." The state says it identified $168M+ in storm damages — at least triple FEMA's Public Assistance threshold — and that the denial is inconsistent with Stafford Act standards. Follows the July 2 denial already tracked. Backfilled from July 31.
