Hochul says FBI arrested a woman who allegedly plotted an ISIS-inspired bombing of the State Capitol
DOJ and the FBI announced Aug 20 the arrest of Jessica Bowie, 35, of Albany, charged in a criminal complaint with plotting an attack on the New York State Capitol. Per the complaint she pledged allegiance to ISIS, surveilled the Capitol over several weeks, and was arrested Aug 19 after paying $150 at a meeting with confidential sources for what she believed was a handgun and an explosive device; both were inert. Hochul credited the FBI and State Police and said the state strengthened Capitol security earlier this year amid rising threats against public officials, adding there is "no immediate threat at this time." Charges are allegations; she has not been convicted.
