Hochul and AG James sue Polymarket US, calling its prediction market an unlicensed gambling operation that pays no state gaming tax and lets 18-to-20-year-olds bet; the suit seeks an injunction, restitution and fines of three times its gains

Filed Sept. 24 against QCX LLC d/b/a Polymarket US, which launched in the U.S. in December 2025. The state argues its event contracts meet the legal definition of gambling, that it never got a Gaming Commission license, and that it sidesteps the taxes licensed casinos and mobile sportsbooks pay. It follows the state's July 2026 suit against Kalshi and the AG's April suits against Coinbase and Gemini.

New York leads eight states in two federal suits to void Trump administration deals paying Bluepoint Wind ($765M) and Invenergy ($653M) from the Judgment Fund to cancel four offshore wind leases, two off New York

AG Letitia James, joined by CT, DE, ME, MA, NJ, RI and VT, challenges Interior Department agreements that pay $1.4B total from the Judgment Fund to cancel offshore wind leases; Bluepoint is to build an LNG facility and Invenergy redirects funds to gas plants in five Midwest states and western geothermal. The state says the two canceled NY projects were expected to bring $16B+ in investment and 2,800+ jobs. Claims cite the APA, NEPA, OCSLA and the Judgment Fund Act. California filed a separate suit. Relevant context: Blakeman has said he opposes offshore wind.

New York sues Kalshi: Hochul and James call prediction-market platform an illegal gambling operation

On July 31, Gov. Hochul and AG James announced New York has sued KalshiEX LLC, alleging its prediction-market platform is an unlicensed, illegal gambling operation that exposes New Yorkers — including those under 21 — to financial risk. The suit seeks forfeiture of illegal gains, consumer restitution, and treble fines. At least four other states (MA, MI, NV, WA) have won court orders restricting Kalshi.
