Hochul says she urged Mamdani to focus on city government rather than Israel

In a wide-ranging New York Times interview published Aug 20, Hochul said she encouraged Mayor Zohran Mamdani to concentrate on city government after his sharp criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last month. Her quote: "I encourage him to — 'let's focus on the blocking and tackling of city government.' That is where I believe the main focus should be."
