Ahead of the High Holidays, Hochul announces distribution of a record $70M in Securing Communities Against Hate Crimes grants to 290 nonprofits and a State Police surge at religious sites through Yom Kippur

Sept. 8 announcement: $70M through the Securing Communities Against Hate Crimes program goes to 290 nonprofit, community-based organizations deemed at risk because of ideology, beliefs or mission (houses of worship, community centers, cultural museums, daycares). Eligible uses are physical hardening (lighting, locks, alarms, panic buttons, barriers, shatter-resistant glass), cybersecurity and security training.
