Backfill: El Hogar Residence opens in the Bronx: 83 senior apartments, 50 for formerly homeless seniors, all at or below 40% AMI; state repeats the 87,000-of-100,000 housing-plan count

Sept. 3: Hochul cut the ribbon on El Hogar Residence, a $60M, 10-story all-electric building at 2444 Tiebout Ave. developed by nonprofit Comunilife. 83 apartments for older adults, 50 of them supportive units for formerly homeless seniors with on-site case management funded through ESSHI; all units capped at 40% of AMI. Financing: ~$19M in federal LIHTC equity, $11M+ HCR subsidy, $5.9M OTDA HHAP, $6M DOH ESSHI, $11.6M NYC HPD, $700K RESO A. The release restates that the $25B five-year plan has created or preserved "more than 87,000" of the promised 100,000 homes, the same figure the state used Sept. 2 at Matinecock Court. Construction on this project began in August 2024, so the completion falls inside the plan window.
