Radiological survey expands into nine Erie County Southtowns; county executive says Erie screenings so far are clean

Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz said on Aug 18 that DEC and EPA are extending their radiological assessment into the Southtowns, where homeowners in Aurora, Boston, Brant, Concord, Eden, Evans, Hamburg, Marilla and Orchard Park will be asked for permission to survey their properties. Poloncarz said screenings performed in Erie County so far have come back clean. Additional Grand Island homes near Veterans Park were also identified for testing. The community group Save Our Backyards has its own meeting set for Aug 25 in Niagara Falls.
