Hochul launches NY LOVES CANADA travel promotion after Canadian visits to New York fell more than 26 percent in 2025
Hochul announced a NY LOVES CANADA promotion on the I LOVE NY site offering Canadian visitors discounts on lodging and attractions, most running through August and September and some through December, with savings pitched as offsetting the exchange rate. The state says Canadian visitation fell more than 26 percent in 2025. The announcement landed as Canada faced a U.S. deadline to accept trade terms or face a 50 percent tariff on roughly 20 percent of its exports.
