MTA awards $19.7M design contract to flood-proof Metro-North's Hudson Line between Spuyten Duyvil and Hastings-on-Hudson, first step of a $270M project inside an $800M resilience effort; construction expected to start in 2029
Announced Sept. 23 during Climate Week. STV/WSP joint venture will design retaining-wall, slope, culvert, drainage and shoreline work on a flood- and mudslide-prone stretch used by about 25,000 weekday Metro-North riders plus Amtrak and freight. The $270M project is part of an $800M Hudson Line resilience line item in the MTA 2025-2029 capital plan. Construction is not expected until 2029.
