On Saturday, Sept. 19, Hochul visited Chappaqua's Community Day at the train station with State Sen. Peter Harckham, New Castle Supervisor Victoria Tipp and Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins. Asked what she hears most from voters, she named affordability first ("People are just struggling with the high cost of gas at the tank"), then utility costs and housing, and pointed to the $1 billion in POWER rebate checks that begin mailing Sept. 21. Chappaqua composer-conductor Michael Shapiro approached her to say she should take a stronger position on NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani, citing antisemitism and money in politics.
