GE Aerospace commits $225M-plus to modernize its Niskayuna research center and add at least 75 jobs; Empire State Development backs it with up to $8.42M in performance-based Excelsior tax credits, plus a Schenectady Metroplex sales-tax exemption on construction materials

Sept. 21 release. The Niskayuna site employs 800-plus; the investment is in facilities, equipment and infrastructure for jet-engine R&D. Excelsior credits are performance-based, so the $8.42M is a ceiling contingent on GE hitting job and investment commitments. State support is roughly 3.7% of the private commitment.
